I’m Lisa Carter, a translator, writer, editor and industry leader, owner and operator of Intralingo. I love what I do.
For twenty years, the written word has marked the rhythm of my life: both the measured pace of English and the fiery flair of Spanish.
My work has won the Alicia Gordon Award for Word Artistry in Translation and been nominated for an International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. I’m a Certified member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) and the American Translators Association (ATA), and a proud member of various other professional writing and editing organizations.
My company, Intralingo Inc., embodies everything I believe in:
- Translation is the art of recreating, rewriting a text in another language.
- Editing elevates a text.
- Knowledge is meant to be shared.
- Experience, commitment and leadership are key to every working relationship.
Let me put all of this and more to work for you.
With over ten years of experience as an English to Spanish translator, I also draw on a professional history in journalism and communications to ensure that your message reaches its intended audience.
Whether working in international news, international relations, translation or editing, the axis of my whole career has always been words.
I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor in Communications in Monterrey, Mexico and obtained a Master of Journalism at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. I’m a Certified member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) and a member of the Canadian Authors Association.
As Manager of Spanish Services with Intralingo, your every word, your overall message and the goals for it are my priority.

Christiana was drawn to literary translation through her love of reading, writing, and the French language. Her passion is for experimental writing that seeks to create new kinds of literature, such as the works of the OuLiPo. She received an MA in Literary Translation (French-English) from NYU in 2013 and currently lives in Binghamton, NY. Her first book-length translation, One Hundred Twenty-One Days, a novel by Michèle Audin, will be published by Deep Vellum on May 3, 2016.
Intralingo works with a select network of translation and editing professionals.
